Gitika Goswami is working in Development Alternatives as Programme Director and is responsible for managing the sustainability policy research and planning programme. She has over 19 years of experience in various capacities from field action, academic research, policy studies in natural resources conservation and management. In Development Alternatives she is overseeing areas of forestry & natural resource management, sustainable agriculture, habitat solutions, resource efficiency, green economy and environmental reporting.
Prior to joining Development Alternatives earlier this year, she had managed several projects on Natural Resource Management, Climate Change adaptation and mitigation, Sustainable livelihoods in organizations that include Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), Government of India; UNDP; WWF-India and InsPIRE Network for Environment (formerly Winrock International India).
With a Master’s degree in Geology, Gitika is a British Chevening Scholar and completed a course on ‘Environmental Management and Sustainable Development’ from the University of North Wales, UK and had completed short term training programmes in ‘Ecosystem Based Adaptation to Climate Change (EbA)’ organized by GIZ Climate Change Adaptation Programme and on ‘Landscape Functions and people: Applying strategic planning approaches for good natural resource governance’ organized by Wageningen International, Netherlands and RECOFTC, Bangkok under Netherlands Fellowship Programme (NFP).
She has authored a number of articles on Natural Resource Management published in reputed journals and book chapters on her works in Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India (ICFAI) Professional Reference Books.
