Legal limits on single-use plastics and microplastics

It is based on a review of national legally-binding instruments that include bans and restrictions, taxes and levies, and waste management measures to enhance disposal, encourage reuse and recycling, and promote alternatives to plastic products.

#CleanSeas Innovation Challenge Awards Bright Ideas to Fight Marine Litter

In 2017, UN Environment and Think Beyond Plastic launched the #CleanSeas Innovation Challenge, a competition among university students awarding creative ideas in tackling marine plastics. The winners were announced today.

EfD Launches Marine Research Program

In 2018, EfD will launch a new collaborative research program called Policy Instruments for Sustainable management of oceans and marine resources. The two focus areas of the program will be effective management of fisheries and combating marine pollution, the latter with a specific focus on plastic waste.
