The world needs a decarbonised energy sector by the second half of the century. In many energy applications, the necessary technologies are available today, so the important next step is the development of enabling policy frameworks in place to scale up their deployment.
This course takes a multidisciplinary approach, to examine the energy transition question from each of these perspectives. It starts by introducing global energy and sustainability issues, and possible scenarios in the first week.
Spurred by innovation, increased competition, and policy support in a growing number of countries, renewable energy technologies have achieved massive technological advances and sharp cost reductions.
