The current project is building on the Green Economy Initiative which is undertaken by UNEP and MICOA. The project will contribute to stimulate investment and policy initiatives that promote green economy in Mozambique.
Mozambique faces a range of environmental challenges and risks, including deforestation; declining fish stocks; land, water and air pollution; and loss and degradation in wetlands and rivers ,which could all be compounded by climate change and a growing population.
The Testing REDD+ in the Beira Landscape Corridor of Mozambique initiative closed in December.
