Article Six of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) requires Parties to develop national strategies, plans or programs which should reflect the measures set out in the Convention. Parties have developed National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (NBASPs), which translate the measures set out by the CBD, and other biodiversity-related Conventions, into a set of prioritised, country-specific national actions. NBSAPs may also set out legislative actions at the national level.
On 14 March 2017, UN Environment held a webinar on "Establishing Enabling Legal Conditions to Implement NBSAPs".
During this webinar, Dr. Pisupati and Mr. Mobegi provided options to improve the legal effectiveness of NBSAPs and enhance your understanding of the associated legal elements. They also outlined the level of legal preparedness countries need to undertake to be able to achieve the Aichi Biodiversity Targets.
