The World Bank Group Webinar – Carbon Pricing and Development – Part 1: Co-benefits, Growth and Jobs

On 13 November 2019 (3:30 PM CET - 4:30 PM CET) the World Bank Group is holding a webinar on "Carbon Pricing and Development – Part 1: Co-benefits, Growth and Jobs".

 

Today, there are two significant global concerns that have taken center stage. On one hand there is a clear dearth of provision of basic goods and services such as clean water, education etc. The SDGs have been set up to tackle these issues. On the other hand, there is the looming threat of climate change. Historically these challenges have been dealt with separately.  Now SDG 13 is about climate action – Carbon pricing could be the link that addresses these issues simultaneously. 

 

This is the first of a two-part webinar on Carbon Pricing and Development. Here, we will explore how carbon pricing policies and measures can contribute to development in African economies. It will bring together growth stories from other countries and contextualized to Africa.
