Dr Catherine Wolfram is the Cora Jane Flood Professor of Business Administration at the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley, and a globally renowned academic in energy economics with extensive experience in developing countries. Among other leadership roles, Catherine is a Faculty Director of the Energy Institute at Haas and the Scientific Director for Energy at the Center for Effective Global Action (CEGA). Prior to this, Catherine was an Assistant Professor of Economics at Harvard. She has been studying the energy industry for over twenty years and has published widely on topics ranging from electricity privatization in the US and UK, to grid connections in Kenya. Catherine uses cutting-edge tools and methods—including randomized controlled trials, mobile data collection, and sensors—to study how people in low-income countries make choices about energy, and how their use of electricity affects economic and social outcomes. She received her PhD in Economics from MIT, and an AB from Harvard.
