CLARA (Climate forecast enabled knowledge services) has issued an open call for participation in the Multi-User Forum (MUF) established in the context of the CLARA H2020 innovation action.
CLARA is a Horizon 2020-funded innovation action set up to develop a number of advanced climate services building upon the newly developed Copernicus Climate Change Services – seasonal forecasts and sectorial information systems. A portfolio of user co-designed and co-developed climate services will help to improve policy and decision makings in five priority sectors: disaster risk reduction, water resource management, agriculture and food (security), renewable energy sources, and public health.
To foster the users’ engagement and co-generation of the services, CLARA established a Multi-User Forum (MUF) that comprises public bodies and authorities, irrigators’ associations, energy producers, civil protection, insurance companies, and other financial organisations. The MUF plays a crucial role in co-designing the innovative application, informing and reviewing the project’s development, and stimulated collaboration among the end-users, purveyors, and services providers.
To extend the FORUM and encourage a greater participation of women and interested practitioners or businesses from the above mentioned policy domains, applications are welcome from committed and interested new members. No particular knowledge of climate services is required but a minimum professional experience of 3 years.
As a part of the Forum, the CLARA consortium will organise three Multi-User Forum workshops. The first took place in Stockholm on 06-07/03/2018 and engaged around 35 members of the MUF. The next workshop will take place in Cordoba (Spain) in November 2018. The final workshop will take place in Venice in September 2019.
The members of the CLARA MUF are engaged in electronic discussion, contribute to spreading the world and connect CLARA to other interested users in Europe and beyond, and help to review the outcomes of the project.
Participation in the MUF is voluntary and doesn’t imply any responsibility. It enables the members to learn about how climate services can help to tackle the multiple challenges associated with climate change and variability. The members will learn about state-of-the-art of climate science and data, and will develop skills that will enable them to exploit opportunities arising from a better access to advanced climate knowledge.
Application is encouraged from individuals that can benefit from the close engagement in climate services development for their personal professional development.
The CLARA consortium will cover the travel and accommodation costs associated with the participation in the MUF workshop according to the rules explained here.
HOW TO APPLY
This call is open until until May 21, 2018. Please note that places are limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

The interested individuals should submit a motivation letter and a brief overview of their professional experience. We particularly encourage participation of women and practitioners from new EU member states. A fluent English skills are a prerequisite.
