ABOUT THE WORKING GROUP
Infrastructure investments can shape economic and environmental sustainability for decades to come. It is imperative to ensure that tomorrow's infrastructure investments address not only current needs, but also ensure system-wide resilience to natural and human-made disasters. Moreover, sustainable infrastructure is a key to the success of multiple national commitments including the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), climate change commitments under the Paris Agreement and the Aichi Biodiversity Targets. With deep uncertainties characterizing many of the factors at play in meeting these commitments, new and rigorous methods to support sustainable decision-making are essential to infrastructure development. The GGKP Sustainable Infrastructure Working Group, which was active from 2016-2017, supported a call for papers that resulted in over 170 research submissions. Of these, 40 papers formed the research backbone of the Fifth Green Growth Knowledge Platform Annual Conference on Sustainable Infrastructure at the World Bank in November 2017.
