Ying Zhang is the Programme Management Officer of the Resources and Markets Branch of UNEP. She has over 16 years professional experience in economic and environmental policy.
Her work in UNEP focuses on sustainable and climate-resilient value chains, clean technology, nexus between trade and environmental policy, and transition to an Inclusive Green Economy.
Prior to coming to UNEP, she was Deputy Division Director in the Ministry of Commerce of China, coordinating programmes on sustainable development, eco-parks, trade and investment promotion, business dialogues and consultations. From 2007 to 2010, she was posted as a diplomat to the Chinese Embassy in Denmark, where she managed projects and partnerships on low-carbon development, clean technology, and climate action from private sector and local governments (alongside the COP15 Climate Conference).
Ying holds a Master's degree on Environmental Change and Management from Oxford University and a Certificate of Competition Law from College of Europe.
