Nicolas Gerber is a Senior Researcher at the Center for Development Research (ZEF) of the University of Bonn, which he joined in 2007. Since then he has officiated as lead researcher and manager in several project teams in the fields of land use and food security, as well as health and sanitation. Within ZEF’s focus on development issues in the Global South, Nicolas specifically led projects on the economics of land degradation, the determinants of agricultural innovation and its impacts on food and nutrition security, and the nexus between water, agriculture, sanitation and health. A Swiss citizen, he trained in environmental and resource economics at University College London (MSc.) and got his PhD in economics at the University of New South Wales, Sydney.
