Geoff McCarney is Assistant Professor of Environment and Development in the School of International Development and Global Studies, at the University of Ottawa. Geoff is also the Director of Research for the Smart Prosperity Institute, a national research network and policy think tank based at the University of Ottawa and focussed on innovative policies and market-based approaches for a stronger, cleaner Canadian economy. Geoff’s interdisciplinary background has included research across the areas of environment, resource and development economics and climate science, with an integrating focus on issues of sustainability. He also has extensive experience working with international research networks, funders and partner agencies to inform and advise on market-based polices for greener growth, and innovative instruments for addressing climate risk management for at risk populations in developing countries. Geoff is a Ph.D. Candidate at Columbia University, and holds an M.A. from Columbia University and an M.Sc. from the University of Alberta.
