Fan Zhang

Fan Zhang is a Senior Economist in the World Bank’s Chief Economist’s Office for the South Asia Region. Her recent work focuses on examining the impact of energy policy distortions on economic development and social welfare. She is the author of an upcoming report titled “In the Dark: How Much Do Power Sector Distortions Cost South Asia?”. She previously worked in the Energy and Extractives Global Practice and led energy lending and advisory program in Belarus and Turkey. Prior to joining the World Bank Group, Fan was an Assistant Professor of Energy Economics and Policy at the Pennsylvania State University. She has a PhD from Harvard University.
