Ahmed Abdel-Latif is Senior Programme Manager for Innovation, Technology and Intellectual Property at the Geneva-based International Centre for Trade and Sustainable Development (ICTSD) since 2007. In fall 2012, he was Giorgio Ruffolo Research Fellow at the Sustainability Science Program, John F. Kennedy School of Government, at Harvard University. As an Egyptian career diplomat he worked at the Permanent Mission of Egypt to the United Nations and the World Trade Organization in Geneva (2000-2004).
Mr. Abdel-Latif has taken an active part in international discussions on intellectual property, innovation, public policy, technology transfer and green technologies.
In 2014, he was designated as the representative of the Research and Independent Non-governmental Organisations (RINGOs) to the Advisory Board of the Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN) for 2014-2015.
He is co-editor of the UNEP, EPO, ICTSD report, Patents and Clean Energy, Bridging the gap between evidence and policy (2010) and has reviewed articles on green technologies and innovation for peer reviewed journals such as Energy Policy and Climate Policy.
Mr. Abdel-Latif holds an LLM from the London School of Economics (LSE), a B.A in Political Science from the American University in Cairo (AUC), and the Diplôme of the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris.
