Today, as part of the Fourth GGKP Annual Conference on the theme of, 'Transforming Development through Inclusive Green Growth', two awards were presented for the Best Young Researcher Paper and Best Overall Paper.
The first award for the Best Young Researcher Paper went to Daye Eom, Sgouris Sgouridis and Scott Kennedy for the paper 'Comparison of Financing Mechanisms in Facilitating Rural Electrification in Tanzania: Using Agent Based Modeling Approach'. The award for Best Overall Paper went to Byela Tibesigwa and Martine Visser for the paper "Small-Holder Farming, Food Security, and Climate Change in South Africa: Male-Female and Urban-Rural Differences".
During the conference over 30 research papers were discussed and debated. Through the discussions, audience members heard from over 100 speakers from governments, development institutions, international organisations, academia and the business sector. The awards were presented by Gunnar Kohlin, Director, Environment for Development (EfD); Mahua Acharya, Assistant Director-General, Investment of Policy Solutions, Global Green Growth Institute; and Benjamin Simmons, Head, GGKP.
