On 17 April 2018 (12:30 PM CEST), the Euro-Mediterranean Center on Climate Change (CMCC) is holding a webinar on "Mapping Innovation: A Global Outlook of Climate Services".
As stated by the European Commission, Climate Services — understood as the translation of climate data and information into customised tools, products and information — have the potential to become the intelligence behind the transition to a climate-resilient and low-carbon society. They can help decision-makers take informed decisions in order to boost resilience and adaptation capacity by addressing existing or emerging risks.
The growing interest behind the development and use of climate services has led to significant research efforts in a number of social science fields, spanning from sociology to economics, to meteorology, climatology and physical sciences.
This webinar will present the preliminary results of a study that aims to map research in the field of Climate Services through Network Analysis and Bibliometrics. Using publications records from Scopus database for the period 2000-2018, the CMCC will present the network of authors, actors and institutions producing research on Climate Services, exploring the contribution of the diverse disciplines in filling the knowledge gaps and pushing the research frontier forward.
