Greenpreneurs is a global network of youth competing to take their green growth solution from idea to business plan. Greenpreneurs harnesses the creativity and ambition of youth to develop the green growth solutions that promote sustainability as a socio-economic enabler and contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
Greenpreneurs grew out of the collective goal of three organizations: Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), Student Energy, and Youth Climate Lab, who wanted to support young people develop a sustainable idea or solution that would positively impact their communities. They all work with the Sustainable Development Goals, climate action, and the sustainable energy transition so the coalition was a way for them to pool their strengths and directly impact the lives of prospective entrepreneurs to address some of the world’s greatest challenges.
Over ten weeks the GGGI, Youth Climate Lab and Student Energy will take the teams through the six major stages to transform their idea into a problem-validated, risk assessed business plan - and get them ready to pitch! Each of the participating teams will be matched with a mentor with relevant skills and experience as an entrepreneur. These mentors will support their growth as young entrepreneurs and be available to answer their entrepreneurship questions through the program. They will have the opportunity to interact and engage with the other teams participating through Greenpreneurs Discussion Hub. The program will end with a competition, where the teams will compete for seed funding, internships with the GGGI, and conference bursaries to the 2019 International Student Energy Summit.
