The third annual Asia Low Emission Development Strategies (LEDS) Forum will take place in Yogyakarta, Indonesia during November 11-13, 2014. The forum is organized by the Asia LEDS Partnership and hosted by the Indonesia National Council on Climate Change (DNPI), with support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Climate and Development Knowledge Network (CDKN), Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), World Bank Group, and other partners.
A wide variety of experts and leaders will discuss the development benefits of pursuing low-emission development, and share experiences in mainstreaming LEDS and green growth into national development plans. Confirmed speakers include:
- Ir. Rachmat Witoelar, Executive Chairman, National Council on Climate Change, Indonesia
- Dr. Endah Murniningtyas, Deputy Minister of Environment and Natural Resources, Ministry of National Development Planning/BAPPENAS, Indonesia
- Mr. Rintaro Tamaki, Deputy Secretary-General, OECD
- Dr. Pham Hoang Mai, Director General, Department of Science, Education and Natural Resources, Ministry and Planning and Investment, Vietnam
Interactive sessions will focus on:
- Understanding, identifying, and strengthening linkages between LEDS, green growth, and development;
- Sharing country experiences in incorporating multiple development objectives in LEDS and green growth planning;
- Showcasing innovative low-emission practices and approaches, and extract lessons for policymakers and practitioners;
- Acquiring tangible skills from hands-on training on tools to support the LEDS process.
